What we actually do, and what we do not

Found Funding is an introducer. We take a profile of your business, match it against Swoop's panel of banks, alternative lenders and grant providers, and put the options that genuinely fit in front of you. Where it helps, we explain what the differences between them mean in practice — because a list of six offers is only useful if you can tell which one is actually cheapest over the full term.

We are not a lender and we do not make credit decisions. We do not charge you a fee. We may receive a referral fee from Swoop when a customer completes funding through them, which is disclosed here and in our terms rather than buried. And we cannot promise approval — no honest introducer can, because finance is always subject to status and the decision belongs to the lender.

Found Funding is a trading name of Buzz Accounting Ltd, company number 15182358, registered in England and Wales. That accountancy background is the reason this site talks about total cost, term and tax treatment rather than headline rates: those are the things that decide what a facility really costs a business, and they are the things a broker comparison table usually leaves out.

Why we are not neutral about how funding is compared

The business finance market has a structural problem: the easiest number to advertise is the monthly payment, and the monthly payment is the number that flatters the longest and most expensive deal. Stretch a loan over five years instead of three and the monthly figure drops handsomely while the total repayable rises. Nothing about that is dishonest, and it is why so much of the market leads with it.

So we ask a different question of every offer: what is the total amount repayable, in pounds, over the full term — and what happens if you clear it early? Those two answers reorder most shortlists. An early-repayment charge can quietly wipe out the saving someone thought they were getting by refinancing.

The same applies to facilities rather than loans. With invoice finance the headline discount rate matters far less than the advance rate, whether it is recourse or non-recourse, the minimum term, the notice period and the minimum monthly fee. Those clauses decide the cost. The percentage on the front page rarely does.

Funding is a timing problem more often than a money problem

Most of the businesses we speak to are not in trouble. They are profitable and growing, and growth has consumed cash faster than it has produced it — materials bought, wages paid, work delivered, and then sixty days of waiting before any of it comes back. That gap is structural. It grows in proportion to turnover, and it does not resolve itself by trading harder.

Which is why the most useful conversation is usually earlier than people expect. A facility arranged during a calm quarter and left undrawn costs very little and removes the scenario where you turn down work you could have delivered. Arranged in the week you need it, the same facility is harder to get, slower to arrive and more expensive. Funding is easiest to obtain when the figures look untroubled, which is unfortunately the opposite of when people go looking for it.
